The Day 25 Giants Got Lost in London: A Story of Whales, Rivers, and a Warning We Can't Ignore Posted on: October 9, 2026 Blog: muttonpeice.blogspot.com --- Something happened in London last month that I haven't been able to stop thinking about. If you haven't heard, a pod of 25 long-finned pilot whales swam into the River Thames. Yes, the same river that runs right past Big Ben and the London Eye. For a few days in mid-September, one of the busiest waterways in the world became a temporary, and very dangerous, home for a group of deep-ocean animals that had absolutely no business being there. I remember reading about it and feeling confused. Whales belong in the deep sea. They don't just wander into city rivers. And that's exactly the point. What happened in the Thames isn't just a "weird animal story." It's a sign that something is off in our oceans. And as a student, I think we need to talk about it. What Actually Happened? On Thursday, 17 Sept...

Are We Chasing Success or Happiness?

Image
Hi everyone, This is from muttonpeice.blogspot.com. Today, I got some information and goosebumps in my English class. My English sir taught us a poem called “Things That Haven’t Been Done Before,” written by Edgar Albert Guest. The poem is all about courage and determination, like Columbus, who dared to discover lands beyond the sea. After the session, something curious came into my mind. It made me think: Why should I do the same thing everyone else is doing? Why should I follow the same high-salary path just because everyone is chasing it? One thing my English sir said really touched me. He told us that his son was studying what he had dreamed of, even though it had less scope. I found that beautiful because sometimes happiness comes from doing what we genuinely love, not simply from choosing what is considered “successful.” After the class, I searched more about the poem and thought deeply about my own dreams. I realised that even if I choose a path that many others are choosing, th...

Adyar River: A Wake-Up Call for Chennai

Image
Hi everyone, This article is from muttonpeice.blogspot.com. Today, I experienced something that made me stop and think about the way we live in our city. While I was travelling to college by bus, I happened to pass by the Adyar River. Suddenly, a terrible smell came through the bus. I woke up and looked outside. What I saw was upsetting—plastic, garbage and other waste had accumulated around the waterway. What disturbed me even more was seeing children playing in areas surrounded by such waste. I couldn't stop thinking about their health and the people living in the surrounding areas. How did our rivers reach this condition? Is it the responsibility of the government? The Chennai Corporation? The people of Chennai? Or all of us? We often learn about cleanliness and keeping our surroundings clean. Yet, even educated people sometimes throw waste in public places. If we know that pollution is harmful, why do we continue to add to it? The situation becomes even more concerning during ...
